Important Information

Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro® and Zepbound®, has been removed from the drug shortage list. This means pharmacies that supply our compounded tirzepatide must stop producing the medication in 60 days, and we expect to have supply through February 2025. We will have options and information for clients using this affordable prescription treatment as part of their weight loss journey.

What Changed?

Tirzepatide and semaglutide were created to help manage type 2 diabetes. Once these medications were approved for safe, sustainable weight loss, they were added to the shortage list due to high demand. This allowed compounding pharmacies to create compounded medications using the active ingredients to provide affordable, medicated weight loss options.

What Happens Now?

Based on federal regulations, we can order tirzepatide from our pharmacies for 60 days. At this time, there are no immediate changes. Keep your regular injection appointments, and we will keep you informed if more changes are announced.

Will My Compounded Medication Change?

Since each Weight Management track is fully customized to each client, solutions are unique. You and your Restore provider may determine that a transition to compounded semaglutide is the best option for you. We will continue your access to safe and effective treatments based on your individual treatment plan, supply and federal regulations.

What’s the Difference Between Compounded Tirzepatide and Semaglutide?

Tirzepatide and semaglutide are the active ingredients in FDA-approved medications with the proven ability to safely promote and sustain weight loss.

What is Tirzepatide?

Tirzepatide is a dual agonist targeting both glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors. It serves as the active ingredient in FDA-approved medications for managing type 2 diabetes. Additionally, tirzepatide has been approved for long-term weight management in adults with obesity or overweight who have at least one weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or high cholesterol, when combined with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, plays a key role in enhancing metabolic health and aiding weight loss when combined with lifestyle changes. As the primary component in several FDA-approved treatments, it has emerged as a top choice in its class, due to its demonstrated safety and effectiveness.

Can I Get Compounded Tirzepatide from Other Companies?

Since this is a federal regulation change, we do not recommend purchasing compounded tirzepatide from other companies.

What are My Weight Loss Options at Restore?

Aside from prescription treatment options with tirzepatide and semaglutide, we offer science-backed therapies that may help improve metabolism and weight loss, such as IV Drips, IM Shots, Infrared Sauna and Whole Body Cryotherapy. Please talk to your Restore provider about your options.
