Did you know that 25% of U.S. adults and children have seasonal allergies? If you’re dealing with sneezing, itchy watery eyes or a runny nose this spring, you’re likely experiencing seasonal allergies.
Experts from our Medical Team put together a 30-day Wellness Plan tailored to help combat seasonal allergies with science-backed therapies. Find out more about seasonal allergies, what you can do today at home to help with allergies and which Restore therapies can help provide relief.
What Causes Seasonal Allergies?
Often, seasonal allergies are caused by high pollen levels, dust and dust mites, pet dander and mold. The Cleveland Clinic explains that allergens are typically harmless proteins, but sometimes, your body overreacts to being exposed to a particular protein for the first time. Seeing it as a threat, your immune system responds by trying to remove it through the release of a chemical called “histamine,” which causes those unwanted allergy symptoms.
How to Manage Seasonal Allergy Symptoms
While there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to treat seasonal allergies, there are steps you can take to help manage the symptoms.
The first step starts with having a consistent cleaning routine:
- Dust all surfaces and vacuum/clean your floors at least once a week to remove dust and outdoor contaminants that you might track in
- Wash your bedding in hot water every week
- Replace dust-prone window coverings like curtains and drapes with shades or shutters
- Clean mildew from your bathrooms, which if left untreated, creates an ideal environment for allergy-inducing mold
- Invest in a dehumidifier to reduce moisture in the air and an air purifier with a HEPA filter that can remove airborne allergens like dust and pollen
Monthly Wellness Plan for Allergies
Along with creating a clean external environment, we have a monthly Wellness Plan that leverages our science-backed therapies to help manage your allergy symptoms.
Allergy IV Drip
According to the National Library of Medicine, Intravenous (IV) Drip Therapy is the most common invasive procedure used in global healthcare settings due to the benefit of administering water, medication or nutrients quickly through the circulatory system.
At Restore, our IV Drip Therapies infuse a liter of fluids with an extensive menu of essential vitamins, nutrients, minerals and amino acids to provide hydration that goes beyond simply water. We offer several IV Drips for allergy relief and immunity, along with the option to work with a medical expert to optimize your drip by stacking additional ingredients.
What to Expect
Before you start, you’ll need to complete the required medical forms and a TeleMed call with a Nurse Practitioner. Once you arrive, our staff will take your vital signs and work with you to customize a personal IV Drip focused on your personal needs and goals—whether that’s boosting immunity, allergy relief or promoting general wellness. Your IV Drip will take approximately 60 to 90 minutes, during which time you can relax in our comfortable IV Drip Therapy room, read a book or schedule a Compression session for the same time.
Did You Know?
Vitamin C and Taurine—found in our Allergy Drip—are two micronutrients that may relieve allergies by acting as natural antihistamines while protecting airways.
Infrared Sauna
Infrared Saunas are an ancient heat therapy practice optimized with a modern twist. By heating the body through light waves and by increasing the temperature of the ambient air inside the sauna, infrared light has been shown to help improve symptoms related to allergies, including nasal obstruction and itchiness, which can also improve your overall quality of life.
What to Expect
You’ll sweat—but that’s a good thing! Studies have found that sweating may help the body detoxify from heavy metals and many harmful free radicals that can hurt your overall health.
During your session, you’ll enter a private room, undress and cover yourself in a towel or robe. Then, you’ll enter our Infrared Sauna, heated up to 170º F, for a 15 to 45-minute session based on your personalized needs. Once complete, you may continue sweating, so it’s important to change into light, breathable clothing, shower within an hour if possible and drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Red Light Therapy
Red Light Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses low levels of red or near-infrared light to treat various conditions. And unlike tanning booths, Red Light Therapy won’t expose your skin to damaging UV rays. Instead, the wavelengths from our machines are soaked up by your mitochondria, which are key players in things like healing, energy and day-to-day health.
What to Expect
Red Light Therapy at Restore can be done in as little as 10 minutes. You’ll be led to a private Red Light Therapy room where you have the option to expose as much of your skin as you’re comfortable with. Once it begins, you’ll feel like you’re basking in warm gentle sunlight. All you have to do is close your eyes and relax, and you’ll reap the additional benefits of improved vision and skin health!
Did You Know?
According to the National Library of Medicine, Red Light Therapy was reported to reduce allergy symptoms by up to 72%.
